🌿 Fataga — The Valley of a Thousand Palms
We continue on to Fataga, one of the island's most authentic villages. This peaceful village, perched high in a valley, is made up of well-preserved small white houses and narrow, flower-lined lanes. It is surrounded by ravines, pine trees and a lush, unique palm grove. Stop in Fataga with a walk through the village.
🏛️ San Bartolomé de Tirajana — Tradition & History
Traditional Canarian house (19th century)
Drive to the village of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, situated at 890 metres above sea level. We will stop at a traditional 19th-century Canarian house converted into a museum. (Museum closed in August and September). This house preserves its original furniture as well as other valuable items belonging to a doctor, its former owner. We will visit the dining room, the kitchen, the bread oven and the tool room, his medical office, as well as two rooms adapted to reflect the economic activities of the era: a weaving room and an oil and vinegar mill.
Village church
We will then visit the village church, consecrated in 1922. Its foundations date back to the 16th century, with a façade made up of three sections, the central one housing two bells and a clock. Inside, you can admire stained-glass windows depicting the patron saints of neighbouring churches, as well as a very old wooden statue of Santiago "El Chico," one of the parish's most precious pieces. The church is dedicated to San Bartolomé, the village's patron saint, and plays a central role in local religious celebrations.
🏘️ Tejeda — One of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain
We continue on to the small village of Tejeda, which has been awarded the title of one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Lunch at a typical restaurant serving local food. This restaurant offers traditional Spanish cuisine, showcasing Canarian specialities (papas arrugadas, Ropa Vieja, gofio, Tejeda cheese…). Meal price not included in the excursion price. After lunch, we will take a walk through the village and visit the church of Tejeda. Tejeda's main church is the "Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Socorro," an emblematic site at the heart of the village. It stands out for its traditional white façade, typical of Canarian architecture, and its understated bell tower rising above the rooftops. Inside, there is a peaceful atmosphere, with colourful stained-glass windows, religious statues and an altar dedicated to Our Lady of Succour.
⛰️ Cruz de Tejeda — The Geographic Centre of the Island
After the visit, we will head to Cruz de Tejeda. Cruz de Tejeda is an iconic site located at the geographic centre of the island of Gran Canaria, at around 1,560 metres above sea level. This mountain pass offers spectacular views over the island's volcanic landscapes, including Roque Nublo, Pico de las Nieves, and, on clear days, even Mount Teide in Tenerife (3,715 metres, Spain's highest peak). Stop to take photos and admire the scenery.
🏔️ Pico de las Nieves — The Summit of Gran Canaria
We will then take the road to "Pico de las Nieves." To truly appreciate a place and soak in its atmosphere, there's nothing better than reaching its highest point. In Gran Canaria, that is the Pico de las Nieves viewpoint, right at the centre of the island. At 1,949 metres above sea level, you will enjoy a breathtaking view over the UNESCO biosphere reserve, with its countless deep valleys and jagged ridges, cloaked in vegetation and crowned with spectacular rock formations.
🌺 Santa Lucía de Tirajana — Charm & Heritage
We will then head towards Santa Lucía de Tirajana. We will stop to take photos and visit the church of Santa Lucía, a historic and artistic building situated at the top of the town, distinguished by its façade of beautifully smoothed stone, which, combined with the whiteness and shape of its dome, makes it truly unique. It will then be time to head back to your hotel in the south of Gran Canaria, bringing this excursion to an end.

TOUR 2 — Full Gran Canaria Tour
Molino de Viento (Mogán) · Azulejos de Veneguera · Playa de La Aldea · El Charco · West Coast Road · Agaete · Arucas
⏱ Duration: approximately 9 hours · 160 km · Departure at 9:00 am
🎯 Highlights of this tour
- Discover the whole island in a single day, stress-free
- A varied itinerary: volcanic cliffs, wild beaches, historic villages, natural pools
- Authentic places, far from the classic tourist routes
- An immersion in Canarian geology, culture and gastronomy
- A 100% private, personalised, French-speaking experience
- A rich, balanced day with a perfect rhythm
🚐 Departure at 9:00 am — Heading for the wild west
We leave the south to reach the volcanic, colourful landscapes of western Gran Canaria, one of the most spectacular areas of the island.
🌾 Molino de Viento (Mogán) — Restored rural heritage
We will start the excursion at 9:00 am, heading south-west towards the village of Mogán. As the day's programme is already full, we won't be visiting "Puerto de Mogán" itself, but will instead pass through the small village of Mogán. We will make a photo stop at the Molino de Viento, also known as Molino Quemado (the burnt mill). As its name suggests, it was ravaged by fire but has since been fully restored to its former splendour, with its mechanisms back in working order, thanks to the Mogán town council and the local neighbourhood association.
🎨 Azulejos de Veneguera — A mountain of unreal colours
We will then make a stop along our route to admire the magnificent Azulejos de Veneguera. This natural rock formation was created 13 million years ago, when the heat and gases of a volcano reacted with the iron contained in the rock, producing superb shades of red, blue and green. Locals nicknamed it "los azulejos" (the tiles) because of its resemblance to the glazed tiled walls of the church of San Nicolás de Tolentino. We will then continue our route along the wild, rocky west coast.
🌊 Playa de La Aldea & El Charco — Wild coastline and ancestral traditions
At Puerto de la Aldea, we will stop at the area's only easily accessible beach to take some photos. We will then visit the large pond known as El Charco. Every September (on the 11th), crowds gather here to celebrate the very popular Fiesta del Charco, a colourful local tradition. This spot is always a soothing stage on our route. Outside of the festivities, the pond's calm waters reflect the serenity and clarity of the town, as well as the deep roots of its history. Long ago, the first aboriginal inhabitants established several settlements here, some of which are believed to date back more than 500 years BC.
🏞️ West Coast Road — Volcanic cliffs & grand panoramas
Beyond this point, a road awaits us along impressive cliffs, offering several opportunities to stop for photos on the way to Agaete.
⚓ Agaete & Puerto de las Nieves — Authenticity, gastronomy & natural pools
It is now time to head to the picturesque fishing port of Puerto de las Nieves, in Agaete. There you will admire the blue and white houses lining a natural pebble beach. This part of the island is much loved and regularly visited by locals themselves. Its main tourist draw is precisely the fishing village of Puerto de las Nieves, likely because it has managed to preserve 100% of its authenticity. The port sits in the town's coastal area, and it is here that you can see the famous Dedo de Dios (God's Finger), (partially destroyed in a storm), a powerful symbol for the people of Gran Canaria. Agaete is also home to some of the most popular natural pools and beaches in the north of the island. We will walk along its picturesque seafront promenade and stop for a break at the natural pools.
⛪ Arucas — The imposing neo-Gothic church of San Juan Bautista
Our last major stop, Arucas, is famous for its iconic neo-Gothic church: the Iglesia de San Juan Bautista, construction of which began in 1909. We will admire the exterior of this church, considered one of the most distinctive symbols of Gran Canaria. Although it is a parish church, locals often refer to it, incorrectly, as the "Cathedral of Arucas" because of its impressive size. Majestic and imposing, it dominates not only the town of Arucas but also the surrounding area. Its main tower can even be seen from outside the municipality. Built in the neo-Gothic style, its construction was officially completed in 1977. It is said to have been built entirely by hand, without any mechanical or technological assistance. It is carved entirely from Arucas's centuries-old stone, giving it a unique and remarkable appearance.

🚐 9:00 AM — Heading toward the authentic north
We leave the south and drive toward the volcanic coastline, historic towns, and lush green landscapes of northern Gran Canaria.
🌊 Tufia — Troglodyte village & volcanic beach
Our first stop is Tufia, a small coastal village frozen in time. This magical spot ranks among the 10 most beautiful beaches in Gran Canaria, thanks to its unspoilt setting, crystal-clear waters and authentic atmosphere. A row of houses was built right on the seafront — something unthinkable today — yet this area has managed to keep its local character, far from mass tourism. The houses are white, with touches of blue, giving the village a unique coastal charm. Several troglodyte (cave) houses can also be found here, typical of the Canary Islands. We will take a walk through the village to fully appreciate its beauty and originality.
🌿 Arucas — Neo Gothic architecture & historic charm
We continue to Arucas, one of the island's most iconic towns, renowned for its religious heritage and lush gardens.
⛪ San Juan Bautista Church
We will visit the exterior of this parish church, built in 1909, a true architectural masterpiece entirely carved from Arucas stone. This imposing four-towered church, built in black basalt, is one of the finest examples of neo-Gothic style in the Canary Islands and proudly represents the town.
🏛️ Historic center & Municipal Garden
We will then stroll through Arucas's historic centre, passing by the Plaza de la Constitución and its traditional 17th-century houses, listed as a site of cultural interest. Here you will discover wonderful examples of local Canarian architecture.
We will finish with a walk through the Arucas municipal garden, a true haven of peace at the heart of the town. The garden is divided into two parts: the older section and the more recent one. Thanks to its generous microclimate, it is home to a huge variety of exotic trees, including jacarandas, rubber trees and hundreds of varieties of palm trees, forming a paradise-like landscape. Surrounded by banana plantations that supply fruit to the whole of Spain, the garden wraps you in a velvety atmosphere, carried by soft, natural scents. A must-see for anyone wishing to capture the essence of Gran Canaria through its lush nature and soothing calm.
💧 Firgas — The village of water
After visiting Arucas, we head to Firgas, nicknamed the "balcony of the Atlantic" for its breathtaking views over the north coast of Gran Canaria. Water plays a central role here, giving the village its distinctive character.
⛪ San Roque Church & Viewpoint
We will then visit the Plaza de San Roque, arguably Firgas's most iconic square. From this natural viewpoint, you can admire one of the finest views over the north of Gran Canaria: the coastline, the surrounding mountains, and on clear days, even neighbouring islands such as Tenerife or Fuerteventura. On this square stands the San Roque church, a religious building steeped in history, built in the 18th century. Its elegant, ornate interior is well worth a visit. We will go inside to admire its gilded altars, religious paintings and peaceful atmosphere.
🌊 Paseo de Gran Canaria & Paseo de Canarias
We will visit two emblematic spots in Firgas, located side by side: the Paseo de Canarias and the Paseo de Gran Canaria. These two promenades are photogenic and full of charm, perfect for a pleasant stroll and some beautiful photos. The Paseo de Gran Canaria, also nicknamed the "waterfall street", is lined with a 33-metre artificial waterfall and features, on one side, the 21 heraldic coats of arms representing every municipality of Gran Canaria, as well as the island's own coat of arms. The Paseo de Canarias, meanwhile, pays tribute to the seven islands of the archipelago, with their coats of arms and sculpted depictions of their characteristic landscapes.
🍽️ Watercress lunch (not included)
Firgas is renowned as one of the best places on the island for growing watercress. We will have lunch at a local restaurant specialising in this emblematic plant, with a menu entirely dedicated to watercress: watercress soup, watercress salad, watercress cheese, watercress bread, watercress croquettes. An original, local culinary experience, in a typically Canarian setting.
⚓ Agaete — Fishing village & natural pools
Our final stop is Agaete, particularly its charming fishing port, Puerto de las Nieves, where you will admire the blue and white houses lining a natural pebble beach. This part of the island is much loved by locals and is regularly visited by Canarians themselves. Its main tourist draw is precisely this fishing village, which has managed to preserve its authenticity over the years. The port of Las Nieves offers a peaceful, typically Canarian atmosphere.
🌋 Roque Partido / Dedo de Dios
From here, you can see what remains of the famous Roque Partido, also known as Dedo de Dios ("God's Finger"), an iconic rock formation considered a natural symbol of Gran Canaria.
🏊 Natural Pools of Las Salinas
Agaete is also home to some of the most popular beaches and natural pools in the north of the island. We will walk along its picturesque seafront promenade, lined with colourful houses and spectacular ocean views. We will stop at the famous natural pools of Las Salinas, carved into volcanic rock and sheltered from the waves by natural formations. An ideal spot to relax, take photos, or swim in a local, unspoilt setting.

🏛️ Agüimes — History, architecture & colonial charm
🏺 Historical Interpretation Centre
Our first stop will be the Historical Interpretation Centre, located on the charming Plaza San Antón, in the heart of Agüimes' historic quarter. This is an unmissable step for anyone wishing to understand the architectural, artistic and social evolution of this iconic town. Through its exhibitions, the centre traces the different types of buildings that have shaped local history: farmhouses, bourgeois residences, craft workshops, hermitages, churches, convents and even archaeological sites. Each space sheds light on the cultural influences and ways of life that have defined Agüimes over the centuries. This educational and immersive venue offers a deeper appreciation of the rich Canarian heritage, providing a fascinating insight into the traditions and roots of the region — a perfect visit for lovers of history, architecture and local culture.
⛪ Historic Centre & San Sebastián Church
We will then take our time exploring the historic centre, including the church of San Sebastián — a building with the grandeur of a cathedral. Located in the heart of Agüimes' historic village, the San Sebastián Church is far more than a place of worship: it is an iconic monument of Canarian religious architecture. Its construction began in 1787, designed by canon and architect Diego Nicolás Eduardo, to replace a church that had become too small. It rises majestically above the village rooftops, its main tower visible from the surrounding area and a true landmark in the landscape. The church was declared a National Historic and Artistic Monument in 1981. Just nearby stands the Hotel Casa de los Camellos, a building over 330 years old that once belonged to an aristocratic family.
🏞️ Barranco de Guayadeque — Mystical canyon & cave village
Next, a complete change of scenery. We will head to the Barranco de Guayadeque, a deep ravine that cuts across the island and is classified as both a natural monument and a site of cultural interest. Stretching over 15 kilometres, this ravine will captivate you with its wild landscapes, vegetation-covered slopes and winding form. Many of its natural caves have been converted into private homes and restaurants. We will walk through the cave village of Cueva Bermeja, visit the chapel of the apostle San Bartolomé, and have lunch in a restaurant nestled inside one of these caves. (Lunch not included.)
🌊 Tufia — Coastal village, volcanic cove & Guanche heritage
We will then continue our journey to Tufia, a small hamlet located in the municipality of Telde, on the eastern coast of the island. This cluster of whitewashed houses, nestled among volcanic rocks, overlooks a cove of crystal-clear waters and black sand. What makes Tufia so special is its timeless atmosphere: no paved roads, no mass tourism — just the whisper of the waves and the traces left by the ancient Guanches, the island's first inhabitants. It is also an important archaeological site, with pre-Hispanic remains and cave dwellings. For diving and snorkelling enthusiasts, its seabed is renowned for its remarkable biodiversity.
🌋 Pico de Bandama — Spectacular volcanic panorama
We will then make our way to the Bandama volcano. The Mirador del Pico de Bandama offers a spectacular panoramic view over the Bandama volcanic caldera, the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the vineyards of Tafira Alta, and even the Atlantic Ocean. This protected natural site is one of the most impressive on the island, featuring an almost perfectly circular caldera measuring 1,000 metres in diameter and 200 metres in depth, formed approximately 5,000 years ago. On our way there, we will pass through a landscape of traditional bodegas — for this is wine country, where the vine is cultivated to produce some truly excellent local wines.

🌞 A Sunday like no other
A Sunday like no other always begins with the scent of a market, the hum of a crowd gathered over coffee, the promise of a day lived at the pace of a village rather than a city. On Gran Canaria, two Sunday gatherings perfectly embody this island way of life: Teror and San Mateo — two markets that seem worlds apart, yet are deeply connected at heart.
🕍 Teror
Teror sets the tone from early morning. This village, ranked among the most beautiful on the island for its traditional façades and carved Canarian wooden balconies, hosts a lively Sunday market on the main square, right in front of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine.
⛪ Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pino
The church of Teror, officially known as the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine (Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pino), is one of the most important religious sanctuaries on Gran Canaria. It houses the statue of the Virgin of the Pine, patron saint of the island, whose legend tells that she appeared at the top of a pine tree on this very spot in the 15th century. Built in a neoclassical style with an imposing façade and a distinctive bell tower, the basilica stands on the village's main square, surrounded by traditional houses with carved wooden balconies that have made Teror famous. It draws thousands of pilgrims every year, particularly during the Feast of the Virgin of the Pine in early September — one of the most important religious and popular events on the island.
