🚐 10:30 AM — Heading north-west towards the Atlantic coast
We leave the south of Gran Canaria behind and make our way to the wild coastline where the Atlantic Ocean meets volcanic rock.
🌊 El Bufadero — The Power of the Atlantic (11:10 AM)
Our first stop is El Bufadero, one of the most impressive natural spectacles on Gran Canaria. Carved into the volcanic rock, this blowhole shoots towering columns of water in rhythm with the waves. A hypnotic, raw and truly spectacular sight.
🌿 Arucas — Historic Charm & Volcanic Stone Architecture (12:00 PM)
We arrive in Arucas around midday.
⚠️ Important information: Due to ongoing roadworks, we will need to park slightly outside the centre and walk 15 minutes on flat ground to reach the historic area.
🏛️ Stroll through the historic centre
We explore the elegant streets, traditional houses and authentic atmosphere of this iconic town in the north of the island.
⛪ Church of San Juan Bautista (exterior)
Built in 1909 and carved entirely from Arucas stone, this four-towered neo-Gothic church is the architectural landmark of the town.
🌺 Arucas Botanical Garden
We then visit the botanical garden, which is divided into an older section and a more recent one. Thanks to a generous microclimate, it is home to jacarandas, rubber trees, exotic palms and numerous tropical species, all surrounded by banana plantations.
💧 Firgas — The Balcony of the Atlantic (1:30 PM)
Firgas is renowned for its pure air, sweeping panoramic views and artistic promenades.
🌊 Paseo de Gran Canaria
Also known as the Waterfall Street, this promenade features 21 heraldic shields representing the municipalities of Gran Canaria, the island's own coat of arms and a stone cascade.
🌄 Paseo de Canarias
The continuation of the promenade, where each of the Canary Islands is represented by a sculpted landscape.
⛪ Plaza de San Roque
We end our visit on the main square, home to the Church of San Roque and one of the finest viewpoints in the north of the island. If the doors are open, the interior is well worth a look inside.
🏁 2:30 PM — Return to the South of Gran Canaria
Arrival expected between 3:30 and 4:00 PM.
